| Just received my charging dock in the mail, went upstairs to my office plugged in the charger to the wall and the USB cable to my computer, all is working fine. Went to docking mode all by its self from there you can listen to music videos or look at photos. So far so good. Price is right | |||||

Decent quality plastic craddle but not truely worth its current price. EVO 3D all sits on its HTC micro-USB slot with nothing else sustaining it for real, and is set at a fix angle - no orientation change possible -. The USB cable supplied for the phone charging is wired to the craddle, and ends with std/wide USB plug (need to add an un-supplied USB charger to use it in my bedroom where I have no computer to direct connect in USB. The charger supplied to charge the extra battery slot only, is US only (need replace it for outside the US), and connects to a different format of Micro-USB than the one used by HTC for the phone, hence it cant be replaced by an extra std HTC micro-USB charger. Im still chasing a working replacement that I hope to find at chineese shop tomorrow, but not sure. Would have been easier to have all Micro-USB ports on this craddle using the same HTC format ! Charging via USB seams even slower on this than already VERY SLOW without this, not sure why. Also price lowered and I was not protected, plus UPS in France now charges for local VAT + Customs at reception, and that is counted as if 1$ = 1€ = Robbery, but you can only pay and accept the parcel or return the whole thing.. so I accepted. |

| I got this cradle for my EVO 3D because I trusted AndroidCentral to carry decent stuff. I was wrong. This cradle is pretty terrible. First, theres no guide to help you seat the phone on the microUSB charging plug..you basically have to slide your phone sideways along the top of the plug until it seats into the jack on your phone. Second, the only thing touching the phone when its in the cradle is the microUSB plug and the bottom of the cradle..the back has no support, so every time you push on the screen, youre putting pressure solely on the microUSB plug. Thats pretty terrible engineering. And, because of that, the phone is positioned almost perfectly vertically, making it hard to view and use when sitting on a desk. For a nightstand, itd be great, but theres no way to adjust the angle of the phone, so its hard to see. Also, it doesnt seem to have the electronics necessary to make the EVO 3D enter Dock Mode when it gets seated. Maybe Im not doing something correctly, but Ive enabled Dock Mode on the 3D as it looks like I need to. But, whenever I seat the phone into the dock, all that happens is the same as when I plug in a normal charging cable. And that kind of defeats one of the main purposes of having a a dock. Also, the microUSB cable that you can use to power the cradle off a PC is hard-wired, so if it ever gets damaged, the whole dock is toast. Yes, theres a separate microUSB port on the back, and it comes with a fixed microUSB AC adapter, but then why bother with a cable I cant detach if Im just going to use a microUSB cable anyway? Its pointless clutter and complexity..again, bad engineering. Finally, the blue LED thats _always_ on whenever the cradle is powered is far too bright and annoying. I really doubt Ill keep this, which is sad since I like the idea of a battery charging slot, but this cradle just has far too many compromises. | |||||
