Great Charger | ||||

| I previously posted a review that was somewhat negative and recommended not getting this charger. Now that Ive actually figured out how to work it properly (entirely my fault for not reading instructions fully) I am VERY satisfied with this device. Both the phone charger and the battery slot charger work great and this is well worth the price. Both the usb and the AC charger need to be connected and plugged in for both the battery slot charger and the phone charger to work at the same time. There is a small red/green light that will signal the battery slot charger is on - red means its charging and green means the battery is at full charge. No such indicator on the charger for the phones charge status but the phone itself will let you know its charging and when its fully charged. Again, this charger is well worth the price and works great! I might add that customer service is fantastic - after posting my negative review, they contacted me immediately, wanting to help solve the problem in whatever way they could. I would also add that they ship orders out extremely fast - mine took only two days from the time I ordered to it being in my hand. | |||||

I bought this stand because I have fully evolved from a nightstand alarm clock to just using the alarm on my phone. I wanted a stand that would charge the phone overnight. The extra battery slot is also really nice, but it takes FOREVER to charge the spare. As mentioned in another review, the viewing angle could be better. The angle is almost vertical, and would be better if it were about 75-80 degrees. I use Alarm Clock Pro to wake up in the morning, and the angle sometimes makes it difficult to hit the smaller "off" bar instead of the huge snooze square. The stand has a USB charge receptacle on the back for the AC adapter that it comes with, as well as a USB cable. Im guessing the USB cable is for Desktop Syncing? I dont use it, so thats my guess. The only thing about this stand that is annoying is the RIDICULOUSLY BRIGHT blue LED. It has never blinked, or shown any real purpose, and as far as I can tell, completely unnecessary. If you plan on using this on your night stand, youre going to need to cover the LED with black electrical tape. Its SO BRIGHT it lights up the entire room. Seriously, the only time I think it would be useful would be when I need to locate the charge stand in a black hole. The other red/green charge LED is fine. |

| I was really hoping Samsung would push the Desktop charger using the push pins long before now, but since they didnt, this will have to do. Its well built, connects to A/C power for charging the spare battery, but the phone charges from the USB port, making it slower than the direct A/C source. The angle is way too steep for easy viewing on the desktop, so to use it youll end up picking it up. Like I said, its better than a sharp stick.. | |||||

I just got the dock today to sit on my desk at work. I have the VZW Galaxy Nexus with the OEM extended battery installed. Phone docks easily. I was pleasantly surprised to find an A/C charger in the box, for some reason I thought one wasnt included. But thats where the good feeling stops! Whether using the included A/C charger directly to the GN or via the dock, only USB charging is supported. From other forums I gather this means only a 500mA trickle charge is used by the phone, even though the charger is rated to have a 1.0A output. What this all means is that the phone will either charge at a slow rate or not at all, depending on what radios (WIFI/GPS) you have turned on and using. Not sure if I am keeping it - but the nice thing is ShopAndroid.com has a 60-day 100 money back guarantee! |
