Whats the purpose?

Pros:	Colors and visual design
Cons:	Pops off, breaks, does not protect phone

I just bought my phone a month and a half ago and stupid me, whos never had a problem with broken phone did not buy the insurance. I was grabbing the phone out of my pocket and dropped it and the case popped off, the back flew off the phone, the battery went flying, and the screen shattered. So a month and a half after using my upgrade, I had to lay out $500 to replace my phone. Ive never used this type of case before until now, but Ive had other cases where Ive unfortunately dropped my phone multiple times and have NEVER had to replace a phone. In short, whats the purpose of a case if it doesnt protect the phone?
